Who We
Are
The Nepean Seniors Recreation Centre opened its doors at the Nepean Sportsplex
on October 30th, 1988. The Centre's ever-changing list of activities and
programs have been the result of comments and suggestions submitted by our
members to the Volunteer Management Board who, in turn, works with the Program
Coordinator, who is a City of Ottawa staff member.
The Volunteer Management Board is made up of 9 members elected annually at the
Centre's General Meeting held in the fall of each year, with the term beginning
on the following January 1st. Most Board members serve three year terms and may
vary their responsibilities during their term. Board meetings are held the
second Wednesday of each month from September to June.
The Volunteer Management Board regularly reviews the "Statements of
Duties" for the Board members and adapts them to meet the changing needs
of the members. At present, the 9 Board members fulfill the following roles:
- CHAIR
- VICE CHAIR
- TREASURER
- ASSISTANT TREASURER
- PUBLIC RELATIONS CO-ORDINATOR
- ASSISTANT PUBLIC RELATIONS CO-ORDINATOR
- SPECIAL EVENTS CO-ORDINATOR
- VOLUNTEER CO-ORDINATOR
- ASSISTANT VOLUNTEER CO-ORDINATOR
All Board meetings and activities are attended, ex officio, by the Centre's
Program Coordinator and a Recording Secretary who prepares the minutes of each
meeting. |
